Leonardo has taken another step in strengthening its position in the field of cybersecurity by expanding its portfolio of innovative proprietary products through the acquisition of Swedish company Axiomatics AB. This operation adds a key component to Leonardo’s offering in the field of Zero Trust— a cybersecurity model in which trust is never implicit, and every system, network, and data access must be continuously verified and protected. This approach, adopted by Leonardo’s Global Cybersecurity Platform (GCC Platform), enables a comprehensive view of the entire digital environment (known as cyber observability), proactively anticipating increasingly sophisticated and pervasive threats.

The acquisition marks the third industrial partnership and M&A transaction in cybersecurity undertaken by Leonardo in just a few months, in line with its Industrial Plan aimed at strengthening its international role.

The Axiomatics acquisition is part of a broader series of strategic initiatives launched by Leonardo in the Nordic region’s cybersecurity sector: a partnership with Danish company Arbit on secure and fast data transfer solutions for multi-domain operations; the recent agreement to acquire a 24.55% stake in Finnish company SSH Communications Security Corporation; and the acquisition of a stake in Swedish start-up CanaryBit, which specializes in confidential computing and AI security. Together, these moves reinforce Leonardo’s international portfolio in Zero Trust and Data-Centric Security.

Founded in 2006 and headquartered in Stockholm, Axiomatics—also active in North America—is the only European company offering a platform that enables Zero Trust architecture for authorization management and data security through dynamic access control based on the ABAC (Attribute-Based Access Control) model. This solution allows for fine-grained, dynamic access management for protected systems, aligned with the requirements of mission-critical entities such as defense, government agencies, and critical infrastructure.

Leonardo’s acquisition and integration of Axiomatics into its cybersecurity services and sales network will enable the company to capitalize on opportunities in this expanding market, delivering added value for customers and partners worldwide.

Completion of the 100% acquisition of Axiomatics AB is subject to (i) confirmation from various authorities, including Swedish authorities, regarding foreign direct investment (FDI) in companies operating in the defense sector, and (ii) other standard conditions applicable to transactions of this nature. Leonardo was advised by PwC during the process.
