INS Sunayna, mission deployed in South West Indian Ocean Region participated in the 48th National Day celebrations of Seychelles on 29 June. As part of the event, a 24 men Indian Navy marching contingent along with Naval band participated in the National Day Parade held at Port Louis. A spirited march past resonating with the marching band enthralled the audience and filled a patriotic fervour amongst the Indian diaspora. Fly past by Naval ALH grabbed the spotlight during the parade.
During the ship’s visit to Port Louis, various activities were undertaken which included joint yoga session, social outreach program and ship open for visitors. An air experience sortie including SAR demonstration of Naval ALH showcasing versatility and capability of the indigenous aircraft was undertaken for the President of the Republic of Seychelles, Wavel Ramkalawan and Vice President of the Republic of Seychelles, Atif Ahmed and other dignitaries.
The Commanding Officer called on Mr Kartik Pande, High Commissioner of India to Seychelles, Brigadier Michel Rosette, Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), Seychelles Defence Force and Lt Col David Arrisol, Commander Seychelles Coast Guard. The ship along with HCI, Seychelles hosted a reception onboard which was attended by CDF, Seychelles Defence Force, members of the diplomatic corps and Indian diaspora. In his address, the CDF highlighted the enduring friendship and growing diplomatic ties between India and Seychelles.
INS Sunayna’s visit to Seychelles stands testimony to continued friendship and strengthening partnership between the two countries in line with the vision of SAGAR (Security and Growth for All in the Region).
